Ten main reasons for men’s infertility and low sperm count:
The chances of obesity are high as a result of an unhealthy lifestyle, and many health problems are associated with it, including weakened sex glands, the effect on the testicles and a low sperm count.
Drinking alcohol can lower testosterone levels and decrease sperm production. Liver disease caused by excessive drinking also may lead to fertility problems.
Research has shown that drug intake leads to poor fertility.
Anabolic steroids taken to stimulate muscle strength and growth can affect sperm production. Use of cocaine or marijuana temporarily may reduce the number and quality of the sperm as well.
Stress can interfere with certain hormones needed to produce sperm. Severe or prolonged emotional stress affects fertility and cause low sperm count.
Diabetes type 2 usually caused by obesity can causes low sperm count, in addition to its role in lowering testosterone, the most important male hormones.
6. Tight underwear
Doctors advise men to wear comfortable underwear to avoid low sperm count caused by overheating of testicles.
7. The effect of mobile phones
A study has found that men who use cell phones for more than 4 hours a day have a noticeable decrease in sperm count, especially when placing the phone in the pants pocket.
8. Hot tub
Experts warn against the use of high-heated water, where the testicles should remain cold compared to the rest of the body, otherwise this will cause low sperm count.
9. Soy products and legumes
Soy products contain phytoestrogen compounds that come from plants. A study conducted on 99 men from fertility clinics in Boston concluded that excessive soy intake might decrease sperm concentration.
10. Muscle Building Steroids
The substances consumed by some men to build stronger and larger muscles play a devastating role for the reproductive system, including reducing the size of the testicles and lowering sperm count.
